Portrait of Marita in pen and ink

Image
I am taking out the pen and ink portrait of 'Marita' this morning from the original drawing book to be framed. This sketch was done on 23rd September, 1973 while I was in the final year of my university studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Pulau Pinang. Upon framing the sketch now measures 25 cm x 20 cm in dimension. The sketch is almost 50 years now and would be the first time ever to be displayed in an exhibition at the CAAF Art Show, Naim Street Mall, Paragon, Bintulu between 25th - 27th November,2022. There is an interesting story of why memories of Marita remains very clear as in the sketch even today. Self-portrait in crayon

Image
Had a bit of time this morning to frame up another self-portrait of mine done in 2011. The sketch is done in crayon on paper and upon framing measures 28cm x 19cm. It will part of many small pieces of artworks to be displayed on 25-27 November at the CCAF art show, Naim Street Mall, Paragon, Bintulu.

Three in one

Image
Within this split frame, I have put up three pictures. The difference in time frame of the painting and sketch is 34 years. The CCAF art show will showcase many of my artworks that are dated and signed by me over a timeline of 48 years (1974 -2022). My collection of paintings on display will tantamount to a retrospective exhibition of my involvement in art. Details of the art show>>> Venue: Naim Street Mall. Paragon, Bintulu >>> Date: 25 Nov-27 November,2022.

Initial impression for a building

Image
This watercolour sketch was the initial impression I did for a batik painting. The batik painting on the Bintulu Plaza Hotel grew out of this initial inspiration. I have sold the painting in 1990 to the hotel but the sketch is still kept by me. The sketch has already been framed up now measures 20cm x 32 cm will be displayed in the art show on 25-27th November at Naim Street Mall, Paragon, Bintulu. Kambatik garden sketch

Image
This sketch done in watercolour pencil on paper is naturally inspired from my Kambatik Park, Bintulu. Upon framing the sketch measures 23cm X 33cm and will be displayed at the CCAF Art Show, Naim Street Mall, Paragon between 25-27 Nov this year. It has been 17 years since the sketch was done.

Landscape perspective drawing

Image
This will be displayed at the CCAF Art Show on the 25-27th Nov'22. This is an artist perspective of a landscaping plan of a proposed flower garden. The drawing in watercolour and pen measures 27cm x 41 cm upon framing. I focussed here two areas in the plan which show the degree of detailing required for such a drawing. 27 Hasnah Haji Mashli Hasnah, Zakaria Kawi and 25 others 6 Comments Like Comment Share

A Frame a Day - framing up the small pieces sof artworks

Image
I am finished with framing up all my smaller pieces of artworks for the CAAF art show. I managed to frame up a dozen of these sketches in various styles such as ink and wash, colour pencil, watercolour and ink, watercolour, mixed media (watercolour and crayon), Chinese brush strokes and crayon. Despite their small sizes, these pieces are important for me because they depict my journey in art since 1974 till today (48 years). They illustrate how my life is very much creativity driven, from being a young man as artist, art teacher, poet, photographer, nature lover, landscape contractor, park developer and ecopreneur. My life has been blessed.
