Portrait of Marita in pen and ink
I am taking out the pen and ink portrait of 'Marita' this morning from the original drawing book to be framed. This sketch was done on 23rd September, 1973 while I was in the final year of my university studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Pulau Pinang. Upon framing the sketch now measures 25 cm x 20 cm in dimension. The sketch is almost 50 years now and would be the first time ever to be displayed in an exhibition at the CAAF Art Show, Naim Street Mall, Paragon, Bintulu between 25th - 27th November,2022. There is an interesting story of why memories of Marita remains very clear as in the sketch even today. Initial impression for a building
This watercolour sketch was the initial impression I did for a batik painting. The batik painting on the Bintulu Plaza Hotel grew out of this initial inspiration. I have sold the painting in 1990 to the hotel but the sketch is still kept by me. The sketch has already been framed up now measures 20cm x 32 cm will be displayed in the art show on 25-27th November at Naim Street Mall, Paragon, Bintulu.
